The job of a product manager is already changing. We use AI more and more in our daily work, and there is no sign of this slowing down. Writing, research, analysis, prototyping, summarising calls, checking requirements, preparing strategy docs, testing product ideas - all of it can already be supported by AI.

  As AI moves from experimentation to production, many organisations discover that “adding AI” is not a feature - it is a fundamentally different product problem. This realisation has led to the rise of the AI Product Manager (AI PM).

  End of last year, I published some thoughts on how gen AI adoption is changing the jobs of PMs. As many of us will look to change jobs this year, it's time to think about how AI is changing hiring.

  The last topic I want to cover in this long series is the big one - will AI take product managers' jobs?

  It was a lot of fun creating this series about becoming a PM with the help of generative AI . I got to learn a lot about how those systems work today and what we can expect from them in the future.

  As I mentioned in the very first post in this series - the best learning is doing. No courses, videos or even books can rival actual practice. To start learning product management by doing you need to land your first PM job.

  Previously in this series , we learned how to use ChatGPT to learn the basics of product management. However, the best learning is doing and generative AI can help us here as well.
